I SEE YOU (from 2019)

*Written in 2019*

Have you ever just wanted to be seen? This could be physically, mentally, or emotionally. There was a time when I didn’t understand why I was always looked over by those who I wanted to be seen by. It was as if I wasn’t an option. This insert is very personal; however, if I can help anyone out there who has felt as I have or is currently in this position, then I will have done my job. It took me years to get to the point I am now, where I am content with where God has me, because before it was very hard. I felt like I was not good enough, that there may be something wrong with me, or that I was doing something wrong. In the thick, whether young or older it does not feel good. You question yourself; you question God. It takes a toll on your self-confidence and self-esteem.

The process was definitely a journey that took prayer, personal and spiritual growth, mental toughness, and time. Over time, God opened my eyes to see the very reason why things were happening in my life and the lack thereof. He allowed me to see that he had me "hidden". When I look back on it, I am extremely grateful and blessed to have been in that position. It allowed me to develop into the person that I am today, without pressure from others. I no longer had the feeling that I had to impress others. My only focus was on me. God keeping you hidden is not because you are not good enough or not worthy; it is to protect you. He keeps you from people that do not need to be in your life and that don’t align with your purpose. You are hidden so that others cannot touch you or get into your space. They will not deter you from reaching your destination. He will separate you from people, even those who you believed to be your friends. He reveals the truth, and your elevation from it is tremendous. He separates in order to elevate. At the time, it will hurt, and you may feel like you are alone or lonely. I want to speak to you right now and say that you are never alone. God sees you and has much in store for you, but you have to go through it in order to get all that he has for you and to become who you were meant to be.

With the time you have for yourself, it is vital to take advantage of it. You don’t have people distracting you and pulling you away from the things that you need to do. Take this time to truly learn yourself and to love yourself. Focus on your passion and what you believe you are called to do. When you don’t compare yourself to others it makes the process easier, but the process is never easy. There will be times that you question God. There will be times when you feel like you have put so much effort and time into something to come back feeling like it was a waste of time. Your heart is so big that you give to others without getting what you need in return. You see other people and you think, "Why?", and think about how you are better in so many ways than that person. Let’s be real. We see people who look like they have what we want, and we also see the faults that they have and how we would be better. We think we deserve it more than them, or at least we deserve it too.

This way of thinking is never good. When you get to that point, it is time to check yourself and your motives. Yes, there are some interesting people out there, but we all have our own paths and things that need work. God won’t make it happen for you any sooner just because it may be happening for someone else. On Twitter, we like to say, "God, I see what you have done for others." But you neglect the fact that everyone's situation is different, and in all reality, you probably wouldn’t want what they have if you actually knew what they went through. What’s for you will be yours, and your destiny is so beautiful that you don’t want to rush it. If you had everything when you wanted it, it would not have been as good as it was meant to be.

Love,
Raven Renee
